I’ve just learned on Wednesday, March 21st, that Bardi McLennan’s “Bounder” had to be put down. It was a herniated disk in his neck that made her decision “easy”, but tough to deal with. If you recall, poor “Bounder” had two prior surgeries on his ear canals, which left him mostly deaf, but he seemed to be slowly on the mend. Unfortunately, it was not to be. We all share in her grief.

Kudos to Iris Fox and Barbara Curtiss for rescuing a 10 mo. Welsh Terrier from the Wallingford, CT animal shelter. Once he’s been cleaned up, neutered, vet checked and evaluated, they even have a home lined up for him! Way to go Iris and Barbara!!!

Some sad news from Stephen and Cindy Goldstein...their WT “Myles” had to be put down last February after suffering from Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) since 2004.
DM is similar to multiple sclerosis and is progressive.
When they got their 2007 dues notice they made a substantial donation to GWTC in Myles’ name to be used for something special to honor his memory.
If any member has questions about DM, you can feel free to e-mail them at
sgoldstein.innyc@yahoo.com.
We all share in their loss.

Heda Jindrak’s “Drudwyn” is recovering nicely from a week in ICU after a hepatocellular carcinoma between his liver and right kidney ruptured in Oct. He is weak, but got to spend Christmas at home. Heda has high praise for the Hospital for Special Veterinay Care on Cantiaque Rock Rd. in Westbury. We wish them both well for the New Year.

Dolores Walker recently lost her beloved WT but, thanks to WTCares,
is now the happy owner of a brand new rescue puppy whom she named Dandy.
We’re very happy for both of them!

This was reported by Member Diane Urfer:
“I would like to let you and the Club know that Carol Corby had very serious surgery done on February 28th in NYC.
The phone message I received was that she was doing very well.
If all goes well, she will probably be in there for ten days.
I know that she is very eager to be home again with her 10 year old Welshie, “Alice.”
For those that do not know her, she is a long time Welsh breeder and the Breeder Referral Contact person for the WTCA.
She is also my “Hannah’s” breeder.”
Carol is a long-time Member of the GWTC as well as the WTCA.
The name of her WT breeding line is Corbscot.
We all wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her at upcoming events.

It is with great sorrow that I must inform you that two GWTC families have just lost their Welsh Terriers:
Marcia, Geoff and Emma Langdon lost their beloved “Belle” on Tuesday, February 20, 2007
after a bad episode of pancreatitis. She was 12 years old and is missed greatly.
Geraldine and Nathan Jaitin’s beloved Welsh “Lola” passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007, as a result of being struck by a car when she got loose from their home. She died instantly and would have been only 6 yrs.old this month. She, too, is missed greatly.
