What is a Match Show? Basically, it’s a casual and enjoyable version of an AKC “Points” show. You generally don’t have to pre-enter to compete … you just show up on the day, pay an entry fee and you’re in. You don’t have to dress up or have any experience at showing dogs. The judges don’t have to be AKC licensed judges (although they often are) and are more willing to give you pointers than at a regular show. No AKC championship points are earned at a match show. It’s an event where people try out their dogs to see if both the dog and THEY like showing.
